Successful Deal of Bamboo Fiber Compostable Non-woven Bags for Hair Dryers with Client from Serbia
1、Initial Inquiry & Preliminary Demand Screening
I asked the client four core questions to assess matching feasibility:
(1)Q:Are you looking for fully compostable packaging bags?
(2)Q:Our plastic-free bamboo fiber material comes with a higher cost, so the unit price will be relatively high. Is this acceptable to you?
(3)Q:What product will these bags be used to pack?
(4)Q:Do you have any special customization requirements for packaging?
The client did not reply for nearly 20 days after this conversation. I assumed the high price was a concern for them and paused frequent follow-ups.
2、Client Reconnected & Targeted Q&A
Over half a month later, the client messaged back with four critical questions, and I responded item by item:
(1)Client:Are these bags fully biodegradable? How long does it take to fully decompose?
Our Reply: The bags are made of plant-based raw materials including bamboo fiber, PLA and PBAT, with zero plastic components. They can completely break down within 180-360 days without leaving any environmental footprint.
(2)Client: Do you hold all EU certifications required for the bags?
Our Reply: We have EU EN13432 compostability certification, FSC forest certification, plus a full set of authoritative SGS certificates covering RoHS, REACH and PFAS.
(3)Client: What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)? Will there be volume discounts for large orders?
Our Reply: The standard MOQ is 10,000 pieces. Orders exceeding 30,000 pieces qualify for a 10% discount.
(4)Client: Do you own your own eco-friendly brand?
Our Reply: We own our proprietary eco-brand and support custom printing of clients’ own trademarks and logos.
3、Custom Sample Delivery for Physical Inspection
Since this was our first collaboration, I suggested sending samples first for the client to verify the actual quality before negotiating MOQ and pricing, which the client agreed to.
Based on their requested size of 30cm*45cm, we produced two styles: drawstring bags and open-top bags. To meet their demand for slightly sheer fabric, we sent 2 pieces each of drawstring and open-top bags in 50gsm and 65gsm weights.
4、Post-sample Feedback & Resolution of Price Objections
The client received the samples after around 10 days and raised three follow-up questions:
(1)Client: Can we print our brand logo on the bags?
Our Reply: We create exclusive printing plates based on each client’s artwork, and we will closely align with you to confirm every printing detail throughout the process.
(2)Client: Do you offer lighter, thinner fabric options?
Our Reply: 50gsm is the lightest weight available for our bamboo fiber compostable non-woven material at present.
(3)Client: Why is your price higher than other compostable bag manufacturers?
Our Reply: There is no universal fixed price standard across the market — only reasonable pricing. You can definitely find both more expensive bamboo fiber non-woven bags and cheaper compostable bag suppliers out there.
A higher price does not always guarantee a better product, yet there are solid reasons behind it; a low price does not automatically mean poor quality, but it always carries hidden risks.
Price discrepancies boil down to one core factor: identical appearance, yet vastly different raw material and quality standards. After all, consistent quality assurance cannot be sustained without proper cost support.
5、Flexible MOQ Negotiation & First Order Confirmation
The client was uncertain about local end consumers’ preference for non-woven compostable packaging, and initially only wanted a trial order of 1,000 pieces. After multiple rounds of pricing negotiations, we finally locked in a trial order of 3,000 pieces.
After over 3 months of follow-up, we successfully closed the first order with this Serbian client.
Key Takeaways from This Case
(1)EU clients prioritize full biodegradability and complete EU compliance certifications, which are core selling points to secure deals.
(2)Physical samples let them experience product advantages firsthand and ease their resistance to higher pricing.
(3)Offering flexible, lower trial MOQs for new clients reduces their cooperation risks and greatly increases the chance of closing initial orders.
